On November 2, 2012, His Excellency Dr. Kazuchika Hamuro, Ambassador Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary of Japan to the Kingdom of Tonga presented his credentials to H
is Majesty King Tupou VI, King of the Kingdom of Tonga at the Royal Palace in Nuku’alofa.
His Excellency, accompanied by his spouse, Mrs. Kyoko Hamuro, was escorted to this occasion by officials of the Government of the Kingdom of Tonga. After the presentation of His Excellency’s credentials, they had a privilege to have an audience with His Majesty King Tupou VI.
His Excellency Dr. Hamuro issued the following statement after the presentation of his credentials: thanks to the friendly hospitality of the People in Tonga, my spouse and I are settling down well.
“It is my honor to serve for Japan and the Kingdom of Tonga to support the close and long-standing friendship between the Imperial Family and the Royal Family as well as strengthen our cordial and strong relationship between the People and the Governments of Japan and Tonga. I am excited with this opportunity and the vital mission tasked to myself and looking forward to working closely with the People and the Government of the Kingdom.”
His Excellency Dr. Hamuro and his spouse arrived in the Kingdom of Tonga on October 24, 2012. His Excellency Dr. Hamuro is the second resident Ambassador of Japan to the Kingdom of Tonga, succeeding the role of His Excellency Mr. Yasuo Takase, who is currently Ambassador of Japan to Jamaica, Belize, and the Bahamas.
His Excellency Dr. Hamuro was granted his Doctor of Science (Geology) from the University of Tokyo and has an extensive career of more than thirty years as a diplomat and an expert of continental shelf in the field of ocean affairs and the law of the sea.
